About Richard Sleigh
Hot Rod Your Harmonicas and Breathe Music Through Them….
Here is what I have to offer you: 35 years of experience playing the harmonica, including studio work on films, TV shows, radio, and performing with a wide variety of acts from Bo Diddley to the Bridgeton Symphony Orchestra. I have also spent quite a few of these years tweaking harmonicas or building high end custom harmonicas.
I have been teaching harmonica technology or music for most of my life in one form or another. I have tool kits, instructional books and CDs and I am available as a consultant, teacher, coach, whatever you want to call the transfer of enthusiasm, information, and experience form one person to another.
I started playing the harmonica when I was 12 – Bob Dylan riffs on a rack while I played the guitar. I was 17 when I made the transition to harmonica obsession. It was Sonny Terry followed by a double record set called “The story of the Blues” that did it for me. John Lee Williamson, Rice Miller, Little Walter, and Jimmy Reed were some of the first major influences on my playing. I tried to quit a couple of times when I got too frustrated with the instrument, but it always called me back.
